The Cybersecurity Tech Accord is a coalition involving more than 60 technology companies

German IT security provider G DATA is underscoring its commitment to the fight against cyber crime. The Cybersecurity Tech Accord is a coalition of over 60 major international IT and Internet companies from all over the world. The goal of the association is the protection of customers from malicious IT attacks, for example by cyber criminals or secret services. Besides antivirus pioneer G DATA, members include Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco and HP.

Hendrik Flierman, Global Sales Director of G DATA Software AG Germany

“The fight against cybercrime has become a task for society as a whole and is becoming increasingly important in a digitized world. As a German IT security company, G DATA naturally supports this initiative for digital security“, said Hendrik Flierman, Global Sales Director at G DATA.

About the Cybersecurity Tech Accord

The Cybersecurity Tech Accord is a voluntary public commitment involving leading technology companies. The aim is to exploit synergies in the fight against cyber crime through increased cooperation between the participants, and thus face up to the increasing danger posed by the expanding threat landscape.

The four principles of the collaboration are:

  1. Protection of our users and customers everywhere.
  2. Oppose cyberattacks on innocent citizens and enterprises from anywhere.
  3. Help empower users, customers, developers to strengthen cybersecurity protection.
  4. Partner with each other and with likeminded groups to enhance cybersecurity.

Furthermore, existing contacts and new formal and informal partnerships with industry, security researchers and civilian society are expected to arise. The signatories also intend to share information about threats and so limit the risk of malware getting onto the Internet.

“No backdoor” guarantee since 2011

Back in 2011, G DATA signed a “No backdoor” guarantee, under the TeleTrust voluntary commitment “IT Security made in Germany”. Under this, the company is voluntarily obliged not to provide any security holes for intelligence services in its security solutions and not to divert or forward any data. G DATA clearly declares that the company rejects proposals for “cooperation” with intelligence services – namely holes in G DATA security solutions. The legal situation in Germany is also clear – G DATA cannot be forced into a cooperation.

Furthermore, G DATA is the only IT security provider with software 100% developed in Germany.
